Hosting is the first step to getting where you want to go in the online world. Thats why it's so important to get off on a good foot with the right host, so here are some hosting tips that will help to get you started.

When first choosing a host you need to look at a hosting companies track record. Are they reputable? Have they been in business for a good long while? This is especially important, as there are many small hosting companies out there that may appear to be good, but may be gone or out of business tomorrow if your not careful. So its always good to ask a hosting company how long they have been in business. Another thing that will give you a better idea of how long they have been in business is to do a "whois" on the domain. This will generally show you how long the domain of that hosting company has been around which will give you a better idea.

More hosting help that will keep you from getting into a world of mess is to ask others that host with the company how well they are satisfied with their hosting. If the company is too small to know who might be hosting with the comapny another idea would be to post a question on a forum, or just search host or tech related forums and find if there is any mention of this hosting company you may be considering.

Another key in finding the best hosting company is to see how well their response time is. Do they have a good chat that is available for you to ask questions. How quick are they to answer you? Do they have a phone number you can call for support? Some hosts may not have a phone line to call all the time but if they are quick and responsive on chat then it will probably be a good bet. Ask the person that you are chatting with as many questions as possible. This will not only help you see what their knowledge level is but will also help you to get a better feel for the company and its policy. Knowing how a company acts with regards to bandwidth is especially important.

Does the company oversell? Most companies do sell more than they should of a server now days in hopes that not every account will be using the space they are alloted, so tey give out more than can really be used. It's common even with the larger hosting companies. While you may think that that you can use all that bandwidth or disk space, don't be fooled. Most of the time you will eat up too much of the server system resources in which case your account will be shut down right away and you will be left with no website and deal with difficulty getting it turned back on sometimes. Once again this is just why it is so important to read a companies Terms of service as well as ask these types of questions to the hosting representative. for more hosting tips visit blendworx.com.
